Getting an inspection from a Certified Home Inspector gives you an independent, unbiased review of any problems or potential safety issues in the house so that you’ll have all the facts you need to make a sound, and informed decision… before buying!

Our clients have managed to save and negotiate on thousands of dollars in repairs and costs because they were armed with a detailed inspection report outlining our findings.

Newcomers, part-timers and cut-rate handymen simply don’t have the ability or expertise to provide the comprehensive inspection you’ll need — or deserve.

Don’t Move Into Your New Home Blind — Get it Inspected!

Having your the property professionally inspected as early as possible in the buying process can save you thousands of dollars. However, with our comprehensive inspection and subsequent report, you are completely informed about the quality of the property you are purchasing.

I’ve also included a sample of a recent inspection report of a home we inspected here in the Dallas area.

Suddenly French farce is back in vogue in America. Not the 19th-century kind, which has attained classic status and goes into repertory at establishment theaters. No, the still spicier mid-20th-century variety — which until now had great popularity around the world, if not always in the United States, but not the respectability it has newly earned.

For instance, Marc Camoletti’s Boeing-Boeing, which ran barely three weeks when it first appeared on Broadway in 1965, won the Tony Award for best revival last season. It earned back the money from its investors (including the Dallas Summer Musicals) in record time. You can expect to see a tour coming through here next year.

And now Theatre Three is presenting a later farce by Camoletti, Don’t Dress for Dinner. In it, the hero, expecting his wife to be visiting her mother, invites his mistress to his country house. Of course, the wife shows up, as does the hero’s best friend. Madcap madness ensues.

John McLean, a former Theatre Three performer who moved to Paris in 1970, returns to Dallas to direct. McLean was in charge of the company’s 2003 hit Transatlantic Liaison and took it to an acclaimed off-Broadway run three years later. Don’t Dress for Dinner is much lighter stuff: We’ll see if the director has as much talent for theatrical soufflés as for meaty drama.

There can only be too many rules and child safety tips but not a 100% chance of getting a child off any danger zone. Much as we want to keep our children safe 24 hours a day, we can only do as much as hope and pray. Let’s face it, even if we want to be at their sides every time the school bully shows up in front of them, there are times when they just have to learn to defend themselves. It does not really mean that you will be sending your cub out into the wild to look out for himself, but you are just letting him face reality. Of course, before you do, you should have been able to give him child safety tips that will help ward off danger.

The world is full of people with bad intentions. We may not be able to understand their reasons but a number of them prey on innocent victims – our kids. In a recent survey, it was found out that mothers are more concerned with kidnappers and sexual offenders rather than accidental injuries. A reason for this is because accidental injuries can easily be prevented by following simple child safety tips. Mothers feel that the incidence of kidnapping or sexual abuse cannot entirely be prevented even with some precautionary measures.

The phrase “stranger danger” is one of the child safety tips that have been widely used to teach children how to fight off potential kidnappers or sex offenders. However, the slogan was found to be taken too literally. It was found out that there were cases when children evaded rescuers because they have been taught not to talk to strangers. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) was never for the “stranger danger” slogan. This is because most kidnap cases were done by someone that the children know or are familiar with.

Keeping children safe from accidents can be achieved by practicing child safety tips. Keeping the house clean and free from obstacles, and using seatbelts while in the car are necessary to avoid unwanted incidents. Child safety tips are basically the very logical things that we have to do as parents. Not letting your child wander off while shopping is a good way to teach him to always check with you before he can go off somewhere else.

Child safety tips do not just involve the parents and adults. Kids should be able to watch out for themselves too. While there are a lot of dangers lurking around, we should not tell the children that the world is an unsafe place. As parents, we should teach them that no matter how many bad guys are out there, there are always the good ones waiting to save the day.

Here are some basic safety tips when working on your car or motorcycle in the garage or automotive shop.

1. Support the vehicle properly – Don’t go cheap and use some homemade jack to raise your car up off the ground and don’t use the bottle jack that comes with your car to lift it up and then crawl under it. First use a good floor jack that can support at least 1 ½ tons. Once your car is in the air, use some good jack stands to keep it there. Never crawl under a raised automobile weighing several tons without the proper support.

2. Wear proper safety gear – This one seems obvious, but most mechanics just grab some air tools and go to work. Safety glasses are cheap and will save your eyes from falling debris. It only takes a little metal shaving to stick in your eye and cause a lot of damage. Mechanic’s gloves are also becoming very popular. They are thin enough to allow a mechanic to feel bolts and tools and they still provide protection. How many bloody knuckles have you gotten from smashing your hand on the engine block?

3. Use the right tools – It is very tempting to just improvise with what you have on hand in your garage. Beg, borrow or purchase the right tools for your auto project. A good example, is not using a good torque wrench. You can easily damage an expensive cylinder head on your engine if they are not torqued properly. Also, use a good transmission jack. Transmissions are made of soft aluminum and can be easily damaged.

4. Buy a good manual – This one will save you a lot of headaches, frustration and money. The old adage “when all else fails, read the instructions” definitely applies to the automotive shop and garage mechanic. Chiltons produces great manuals and will more than pay for itself

5. Common sense is not that common – Use your brain too. It is all too common to see people working a gas tank on their car with a cigarette hanging in their mouth or working on a running engine with their neck tie hanging down over the fan blade.

Most of the folks that own swimming pools are getting ready for another swim season. Family fun, backyard bbq’s, games for the whole family. It is Americana at its best.

On the dark side: More than 900 children between 1 and 14 die each year in drowning accidents. In California, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death for children 1-4 years of age.

But, do you really need these statistics to convince you to do everything
you can do to prevent this from happening to your child or grandchild?

Facts from about.com

Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children between the age of one and 14. (Centers for Disease Control, 2003)

Nine people drown in the United States every day. (CDC)

Two-thirds of all drownings occur between May and August. (Orange County California Fire Authority)

Approximately 75% of child drownings occur because of a lapse of adult supervision of less than five minutes.

African-American children between the ages of five and 19 are 2.6 times more likely to drown than Caucasian children in the same age group. (Centers for Disease Control, 2003)

In the swimming pool, African-American boys, between the ages of 5-19 are 12-15 times more likely to drown than their Caucasian peers. (National Institute of Health, 2001)

Now you can protect you kids, grandkids and the neighbor kids by installing the Pool Protector Pool Alarm.

This Pool Alarm is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds an alarm when children or pets fall into your unsupervised pool. It’s portable, self-contained and light weight. The unit is simple to operate. Entry into the pool will be detected by the Pool Alarm’s electronic sensor, triggering a loud pulsating alarm at the unit and inside your house from the remote receiver.
